Charlotte has been one of the largest donors to Te Papa Foundation, the fundraising arm for New Zealand’s National Museum.

She directed a $300,000 philanthropic contribution which enabled an accessibility focused refurbishment of the Art Space in Te Papa for the first time in 20 years.

Te Papa’s Toi Art bridge and Indra’s Bow balustrades have clear glass to provide 100% accessibility for all visitors to the Museum.

It is a beautifully appointed space with double-height ceilings and a vaulted roof, but the viewing platforms weren’t conducive with viewing art from a wheelchair.

For this project Charlotte collaborated with the national accessibility organisation Be Accessible and founder Minnie Baragwanath to ensure the new design aligned with global best practice standards for access citizens.

Charlotte joined the board of trustees of Te Papa Foundation in 2025, combining philanthropic experience with a deep appreciation for heritage, art, and public culture. Her involvement reflects a long-term commitment to helping important institutions thrive.

Charlotte’s focus as a director is to develop community and fundraising capabilities in the United Kingdom and to help activate new fundraising initiatives to ensure the museum is of an international standard and has the resources it needs for the future.

Supporting the stories, treasures, and ideas that shape Aotearoa.

For Charlotte, the mission aligns with her belief in backing institutions that preserve identity, expand access, and create something enduring for the future.

  • Help Te Papa by helping the future of Aotearoa’s stories — every contribution, in any amount, helps keep our culture, creativity, and research alive for the generations who come after us
