As part of Charlotte’s consumer advocacy work, with the knowledge that only approximately half of Kiwis and their families had the protection of a valid Will, Charlotte led Perpetual Guardian’s free Will campaign, which offered New Zealanders the opportunity to make a Will for free.
On top of covering the cost of making each Will, each recipient was offered the choice of a gift card or charitable donation worth $25.
The investment was worth around $200,000, and Charlotte succeeded in engaging more New Zealanders with Wills to address New Zealand’s problem with intestacy and a widespread lack of Wills among adults, and in generating more conversation about how Wills protect the interests of children and families, why every adult needs one, and how a legally sound Will can be made or updated affordably.
